Assam: Doctors neglect care to a pregnant lady who later gives birth to baby unattended at COVID centre

In a tragedic instance narrated by a lady named Nabamalika regarding the situation in Biswanath COVID centre. Nabamallika lost her father and was tested with COVID-19 along with her mother in Biswanath. In that centre, she narrated a truly sad scenario of the COVID care being shown in the Biswanath centre.

"There was a pregnant lady in our room, who was crying with labour pain but no one came to attend her. She then automatically gave birth to a baby in the room early morning at 630 AM. No nurse or doctor came to attend. After the baby was born, 20 mins later they came wearing PPE kits and the kid was not even cleaned till 10 AM. The room is still dirty and my mother is sitting outside".

The situation as said by her looks grim in the COVID-19 centre in Biswanath. The medical staff are saying that "its a COVID centre and not a hospital". However, Nabamallika says, "then such serious patients should not have been brought in at the first place".

"My mother is also suffering and my father died from Asthama like symptoms. But he never any other problems. Had he been attended well, he could have been alive today. They are not giving us basic medicines for our fever", said the daughter.
