NAGAON: The 12-year-old Karbi girl who was burnt to death in Raha town where she was working as a domestic servant was allegedly sexually assaulted by the accused which resulted in her pregnancy, claimed the neighbours.
According to a child rights body, after the arrest of the culprit, the commission was informed by the neighbours that the victim was physically and mentally abused regularly by the accused before she was killed.

It further urged the concerned authorities to investigate the case on fast track mode under the supervision law and file a charge sheet after incorporation of 4, 5, and 6 sections of the POCSO Act, 2012, Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 and section 79 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in addition to the provisions of IPC.

The SP Nagaon has assured the commission that the charge sheet will be prepared on a fast track mode and justice shall be delivered, it informed.
The victim was a resident of Sar Kro Kudam Ronghang village in West Karbi Anglong and had been staying and working as a domestic servant in the house of Prakash Borthakur. She was charred to death on April 22.
