We have sad news for the liquor lovers of the state of Assam as the Election Commission has issued a directive to observe ‘dry days’ during polling and counting in the state of Assam.
The Government of Assam has banned the sale and serving of liquor during election days and also the final 48 hours before the completion of counting.
All Bonded Warehouses, IMFL Retail Shops including Club, Hotel and Country Spirit Shops will remain closed during the Dry Days. Even storage of liquor by individuals shall be curtailed.
Apart from the Constituencies where the polling will take place, the sale of liquor in adjoining areas shall also be prohibited.
Any violation of this rule shall be dealt with by the concerned authorities under Assam Excise Act and Laws.
The election will be held in three phases in Assam on 11, 18, and 23 April. Counting will be held on 23 May.
