Assam Education Dept Waives Off Admission Fees For Poor Students

Guwahati, June 1, 2019:

The state education department has announced to waive off admission fees for students up to postgraduate level whose parents’ annual income is less than Rs. 2 lakhs.

The higher education department has already issued an order for the same.

According to reports, six universities and all provincialized government colleges are incorporated under the scheme.

A notification was issued by the state government, “The aim of the scheme is access to the poor students of the state and to help them achieve the benefits of higher education.”  It further added that the scheme is only for regular students having a minimum of 75% of attendance in classes with no back papers in previous examinations.

This scheme will be applicable to the students seeking admission in the first year of undergraduate or postgraduate courses.
