Over eighty percent of voters exercised their franchise in four constituencies on April 23 during the third and final phase of polling in the state of Assam.
The Election Commission reported that 80.74 percent of voters had turned out to vote till 8 pm. The final numbers are expected to be even higher as voting continued way beyond 5 pm in many polling stations.
The four constituencies that went to the polls are - Gauhati, Barpeta, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar.
Polling was reported to be by-and-large peaceful with no acts of violence reported in Assam. Although some incidents of EVM glitches were reported, they were immediately replaced, as per reports.
Constituency-wise break-up:
Dhubri : 86.94 %
Kokrajhar (ST) : 77.38 %
Barpeta : 78.11 %
Gauhati : 80.20 %
