The state of Assam has erupted with mass agitation all over by different agitating bodies against the centre’s move to table the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Parliament.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi along with a large group of protestors launched a torch march rally against the tabulation of the Bill on Tuesday from Guwahati Club to Chandmari area in the city.

Moving to the streets to protect the “Jaati, Maati and Bheti”, the protestors said that the people of Assam will not allow the Bill to be passed under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, the students’ bodies of Gauhati University, Cotton University, Bhattadev University, B. Barooah College, etc. have also launched massive protests in the respective colleges and universities across the state.
The protestor held placards with the slogans “We Oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill”, etc.

The students’ units of All Assam Students’ Union, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad and other students’ organizations have also staged a mass agitation at Tinsukia, Mora, Guwahati, Pathsala, and other districts of the state.
