Assam erupts in protests over PM's incendiary remarks

Guwahati, January 6, 2019:

In a yet another protest staged in Numaligarh, a total of nine organisations protested against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Sunday.

According to reports, AASU, SMSS, tea tribes, Tai Ahom, the Adivasi Union and other organisations protested against the Bill. It may also be noted that along with the organisations local people also joined the protest.

The locals of Assam have been continuously protesting against this bill but the situation turned chaotic after Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed the amendment of the bill at a mass public gathering in Silchar on Friday.
