BAKSA: Amid the ongoing election campaign ahead of polls, former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief today termed Assam Finance, Health, and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as a "dacoit."

"Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging corruption, yesterday called me a cat. We have been promised Rs. 1,000 crore from the Government. However, to date, we have only received Rs. 600 crore. Therefore, the rest of the money was probably gobbled up by them, which is why I have called him a dacoit," Hagrama told scribes in Baksa, continuing his war of words with BJP Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who has been campaigning extensively for the saffron party in the lead up to the polls.

Addressing BPF supporters in Baksa, Mohilary also claimed that the BJP and the United People's Front Liberal (UPPL). "To defeat the BPF is their number one agenda. Our agenda is to stop them from assuming charge of the BTC and defeat them in the forthcoming elections."

Mohilary also said that the Government has not released the Rs. 1,000 crore for development in the BTC. "They (the government) have only released Rs. 600 out of the promised Rs. 1,000 crore.

Speaking on the sidelines of today's rally, Hagrama said although the BPF is still very much a part of the NDA alliance, things are a little different in the BTAD region.

Hagrama further stated that the BJP party, which has fielding its own candidates against the BPF, is bad-mouthing him as its own candidates are in the fray.

Mohilary further asserted that his BPF party would win 25-30 Seats and form the Government with an "absolute majority."
