Assam: Ex chief secretary's son earns PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University

GUWAHATI: Assam’s Ranjay Krishna, the son of former Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, successfully defended his PhD thesis on April 23 at Stanford University and earned a PhD in Artificial Intelligence.

The title of Ranjay's thesis was "Visual Intelligence from Human Learning."

Professors Michael Bernstein and Fei-Fei Li of Stanford University were his supervisors.

In 2013, he did his double major in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Cornell University with great distinction.

In 2015, he completed his Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science at Stanford University, where his MS research paper was named the best of the year.

Ranjay's PhD research combines human cognition, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence in a groundbreaking way.

Ranjay is the first Assamese to receive a doctorate in Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University, and possibly the first Assamese to receive such a prestigious degree in any subject from the world's top-ranked university.

His sister Krishangi is also studying in the United States and is pursuing her PhD from Brown University.
