HOJAI: Hundreds of Farmers of Hojai's Doboka staged a protest demanding the reopening of the paddy unit. They also submitted a memorandum to the Circle Officer.

The farmers protested outside the paddy unit at the Sangmaji Pothar village to reiterate their demand to restart the unit. It may be mentioned here that the unit was initially set up in support of the farmers' longstanding demand.

However, soon after its opening, some mischievous persons were allegedly trying to shut it down.

According to the farmers, these people had tried to malign the reputation of the newly set up unit from the very first day, as a result of which, the Hojai District Administration had stopped the process of purchasing paddy.

Unable to sell their produce on time, the farmers took to the unit and staged their protest demanding the reopening of centre. They have also demanded that the mischievous persons be punished.
