The seventh day of the first wave of the flood affected 727 numbers of villages in five numbers of Districts such as Hojai, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimganj, and Nagaon of Assam.
The flood affected only the crop area in Morigaon and Lakhimpur districts. Areas like Dhansiri at Numaligarh (Golaghat), Barak at Badarpurghat (Karimganj) and Kushiyara at Karimganj (Karimganj) are flowing above danger level and the total number of affected population today is 5,64,074.
Total death toll in Flood has risen to 17 with six more persons four from Karimganj and two from Cachar reported dead today because of flood.
NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams have been engaged into service in the flood affected areas for search and rescue operation and today, 9,250 more persons were rescued from Cachar by SDRF and NDRF personnel.
236 number of Relief Camps are operational in Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Nagaon (Relief Camps: Cachar – 54 nos, Karimganj - 67 nos, Hailakandi - 114 nos, and Nagaon - 1 no) with 1,57,524 inmates, 4844 among which are children along with 221 number of Relief Distribution Centers are also operational in Cachar and Karimganj Districts of Assam. Fresh incidents of landslides have occurred in Nchureloa village under Halflong Revenue Circle in Dima Hasao in which 15 houses were fully damaged. Landslide incident has also been reported in Kharguli, Kamrup Metro. However, no casualty has been reported so far.
