ASSAM: FLOOD SITUATION CONTINUES TO DETORIATE

The continuous rainfall has affected 82 numbers of villages in seven numbers of districts such as Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Chirang, Majuli and Kokrajhar of Assam. The crop area has been affected in Karimganj, Morigaon, Sivasagar, Baksa and Lakhimpur in the flood.

Areas like Brahmaputra at Nematighat (Jorhat), Jia Bharali at N.T. Rd. Xing (Sonitpur) and Puthimari at N.H. Rd (Kamrup); Beki at Rd. Bridge (Barpeta) and Sankosh at Golokganj (Dhubri) are flowing above danger level. Total number of affected population as on today is 45,452 and no person has been reported dead in the last 24 hours. Therefore, the total death toll in Flood stands to 29.

Four numbers of Relief Camps are operational in Lakhimpur and Kokrajhar three in Lakhimpur and one in Kokrajhar with 548 inmates along with one Relief Distribution Centres are also operational Chirang District of Assam.
