The ravaging annual floods have claimed a total of 110 lives so far in Assam. Only 4 districts are reeling under floodwaters, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
A total of 6,435 people and 5,375 hectares of cropland across 98 villages have been affected by the flood. So far 477 big animals, 261 small animals and 919 poultry are also affected.
The mighty Brahmaputra at Neematighat in Assam are flowing above danger level, causing floods and consequently leaving thousands of families homeless.
As per the latest data, the flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Baksa, Kokrajhar and Morigaon district. One relief camps have been installed. In the relief camps, there are so far 73 people.

Meanwhile, the Kaziranga National park in Assam is badly affected with 50% area submerged and according to Forest department report, a total of 151 animals have died in this flood season and 172 animals have been rescued. 81 animals have died from drowning, 21 have died from vehicle hits and 17 died under treatment.
2020 Assam floods or 2020 Brahmaputra river floods refer to the floods in Brahmaputra River in Indian state of Assam in 2020. The floods also coincided with the worse COVID-19 pandemic in India. Initial flooding started in May 2020 due to heavy rainfall affecting 30,000 and destroying crops across 5 districts. Till July, the floods affected around 2 to 3 million in 27 districts and claiming the lives of more than 60 people. More than half of the area of Kaziranga National Park and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary are affected by floods forcing animals to move to other places. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 3000 villages are affected, 1.28 lakh hectares of agricultural land submerged and 44 thousand people living in relief camps. Barpeta is the worst hit region with more than 5 lakh cases.
