GUWAHATI: As many as 1,18,394 people across 14 Assam districts (Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Golaghat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sonitpur, South Salmara) are currently affected due to floods in the state.
The impact of the floods is being felt in as many as 646 villages in the state.
A child in Morigaon drowned today, although the official report states that it was not a flood-related incident.
Meanwhile, as many as 2,333 people have made their way to the nearest relief camps. 19,659.7 hectares of crop area have also been affected.
