Assam floods force APSC to postpone Assistant Engineer recruitment exam, details inside

The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has postponed the Assistant Engineer (Public Health Engineering) recruitment examination that was scheduled to be held on August 9, following requests from candidates in flood-affected districts, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday, August 1.

Speaking during a Facebook Live session, Sarma said candidates from Sivasagar and Charaideo had appealed to the government to postpone the examination as many of them were facing difficulties due to the recent floods.

Responding to their concerns, the chief minister said the government requested the APSC to defer the examination so that flood-affected aspirants would not be disadvantaged.

"Candidates from Sivasagar and Charaideo requested that the examination be postponed because of the flood situation. We did not want anyone to face difficulties, so the Assam Public Service Commission has postponed the examination," Sarma said.

He added that the new examination date would be announced later, after the flood situation in the affected areas improves and normalcy is restored.

The Assistant Engineer examination for the Public Health Engineering Department will remain postponed until conditions become conducive for candidates from the flood-affected districts to appear for the test, the chief minister said.
