ASSAM: FOUR MILITANTS APPREHANED IN CACHAR

Four militants of the ZUF (Kamson faction) were apprehended in Cachar district on Thursday.

According to official sources, a militant was apprehended by a joint team of Cachar police and 37 Assam Rifles from Rangmaijan area of Cachar in the wee hours.

Later, based on the statement of the arrested rebel Njeulekbe Riame alias Avoi, three more militants of the outfit and a harbourer were apprehended and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them. However, one Mapa Jemei, a self-styled “2nd lieutenant” of the rebel group, managed to flee.
