Dimpi, who is currently doing her graduation in economics, is the eldest daughter of Hareswar Barman and Geetanjali Barman.

Coming from a humble background, Dimpi didn't have access to extravagant tools or equipments required for practicing the art. Her father is a vegetable vendor who makes the ends meet by selling vegetables in Guwahati.

However, this young girl never complained and made use of what she had without causing any wastage.

"She is a very bright student and is always busy in her own world. During the lockdown, there was nothing much to do. So, she made use of the leaves which are easily available to her", said Dimpi's proud mother.

Dimpi got introduced to this art form by watching various videos on Facebook. Taking inspiration from the videos, she started carving different images on the leaves.  Gradually she shifted from easier designs to more intricate and co

mplicated ones. Now, she has become the talk of the town.

Her artistic world comprises of her study table, tools and leaves which take the form of incredible pieces of art once she carves different designs.  Using everyday tools like pencils, pen, scissors and  blades, Dimpi kept on creating one opus after another.

Be it the Indian map or image of Lord Buddha, this budding artist has been able to successfully incorporate her

imagination into the leaves.

With her skills, Dimpi has set an example for everyone and proved  one doesn't always require professional training or expensive tools to ace an art form inspiring others to follow.
