Guwahati, May 6, 2019:

The Assam State Government has given new office timings for the people of Islamic faith in view of the ongoing Ramzan month starting on May 6 onwards. As per the new rules, the Muslim Government employees shall leave at 4:30 pm in the afternoon instead of the usual 5 pm.

Moreover, they have been asked to reach the offices by 9 am in the morning.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Muslim lunar calendar. Healthy adult Muslims fast in Ramadan from dawn until dusk.

This includes abstaining from drinking, eating, immoral acts and anger. Other acts of worship such as prayer, reading the Quran and charity are also encouraged during the holy month.

Muslims also believe the Quran was revealed in Ramadan.
