GUWAHATI: Assam governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi today constituted a fact finding committee headed by commissioner and secretary of higher education department Preetom Saikia to enquire into alleged financial irregularities by Dibrugarh University vice chancellor Prof Ranjit Tamuli.
Mukhi, who is also the chancellor of Dibrugarh University, initiated the step on the basis of news published on media and allegations submitted by Dibrugarh University Teachers’ Association alleging Tamuli’s involvement in the irregularities.
The committee, which also includes commissioner of Upper Assam Division Moloy Bora as member, will be assisted by directorate of Forensic Science scientific officers Rajiv Sensua and Israphil Musahari.
The notification said the panel has been constituted:
“The committee shall submit its report, after enquiry, within a period of 48 hours from morning of 04.02.2021,” it said.
The Dibrugarh district as well as the university administrations have been directed to extend all logistic support to the visiting panel.

The panel has arrived Dibrugarh University today to start their enquiry. It has sought cooperation from the Dibrugarh University Teacher's Association (DUTA), officers’ association and Dibrugarh University unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) to conduct the enquiry.
The AASU, DUTA, Dibrugarh University Employees' Association (DUEA) and Dibrugarh University Officers' Association have been relentlessly protesting against the vice-chancellor.
