The Assam government has allowed only five persons to perform the namaz at the mosques across the states on the occasion of the holy Eid-Ul-Zuha to be celebrated on August 1st, 2020.
In an order, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration stated: “Whereas the representatives of the various Masjid and Idgah committees in a meeting held on July 29th, 2020 had requested to allow at least five worshipers to attend Namaz at the forthcoming Id-Uz-Zuha in the Kamrup Metro district.”
The people, whoever gather to perform namaz, will have to maintain social distancing and wear face masks mandatorily. Moreover, the places of offering namaz must be sanitized before and after the namaz.

Assam reported 2112 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the state’s total to 38,407. A total of 41,028 tests were conducted.
Of 2112 new COVID-19 cases detected in Assam, 283 from Kamrup (M), 211 from Nagaon, 210 from Kamrup (R) and 132 Sonitpur. The positivity rate was 5.14 percent which was 7.11 percent on July 29th, 2020.
Of 38,407 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 9230 are still active and 29,080 have recovered so far. Meanwhile, the death toll has reached 94 with two more COVID-19 related deaths in the state. The deceased are Aolepshi Jamir (57) of Kamrup (Metro) and Swapan Saha (45) of Darrang.
A total of 1248 patients were discharged yesterday.
The state crossed 20,000 mark in COVID-19 cases on July 16th, 2020 while crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.
