Assam Govt declares holiday on Aug 17

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 16, 2018:

Coinciding with the Central government’s announcement earlier in the evening, the Assam government too has announced a seven-day State mourning with effect from Thursday as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on Thursday evening

The Assam government also announced a State holiday on Friday in honour of the departed soul.

All government offices, State undertaking and corporation offices, courts, schools and educational institutions will remain closed during the day.
