Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the frontline workers have been working for the last six months. Amongst them is the police force of India.
In a recent post by the Indian Police Foundation on their official twitter account, it has been informed that almost 700 police and CAPF personnel have succumbed to COVID-19.
It wrote,” The post read, "It is painful to note that 700 Police / CAPF personnel have laid down their lives so far, shielding the nation against Covid-19. A grateful nation stands with their families. As of today, 1,30,399 personnel have been infected, while working in the frontlines of this battle."

Harmeet Singh, ADGP Assam Police wrote on his twitter handle, “We bow our heads in salutation to those brave Police/CAPF #CoronaWarriors who have made the Supreme Sacrifice in the fight against #COVID19. Hon’ CM Assam, Sh. @sarbanandsonwal has kindly declared ex-gratia of Rs 50,00,000/- (each) for all @assampolice personnel who passed away."
According to reports, Singh also confirmed that the process of handing over the amount is underway and each family of the deceased will be given an amount of Rs 50 lakh.
