In view of financial hardships faced by the parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the state and after considering all other aspects the Government of Assam has decided to waive all fees for admission into Class-XI and XII of Provincialized Government Higher Secondary School and Senior Secondary School of Assam. The Secondary and Elementary Education Department issued an order in this regard.

No admission fees, tuition fees including any other fees including the cost of prospectus and admission forms etc, should be charged from the students, parents irrespective of their financial status such as APL, BPL etc during the year 2020. Any institution found charging any kind of tees whatsoever the amount, shall be penalized as per law.

In case any institution, while waiving 100 percent admission fees to the students, find any financial hardship in doing so, they may approach through their concerned Inspectors of Schools for advance reimbursement of fees totalling a maximum of half of the amount of fees reimbursed during last academic year.

Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had recently made a set of announcements in a bid to give relief to the students amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “In view of Covid19, GoA has waived off all fees of admission, exam, labs, excursion, registration, prospectus etc for 2020-21. To be applicable to institutions as per notification. Held a meeting with Pr Secy Edu & Principals of colleges for smooth implementation of scheme,” he had added.

The government of Assam also decided to conduct all admissions to the state univ, govt colleges & technical institutions only in online mode for academic session 2020-21.
