Guwahati, February 17, 2019:

The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police has arrested a Jamaat-ul-Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist from Kolkata, who is suspected to be the mastermind of the Bodhgaya blast. One Ariful Islam belonging to Panpara village in Assam’s Barpeta was arrested yesterday morning at 5:30 am from the Babughat area in Kolkata.

Islam had studied in Howli, Assam and worked as a helper with truck drivers. He came in touch with militants Jahidul Islam and Abdul Majid and was given invited by them to join JMB.

He was in contact with Kausar, Kalu, Adil, Hassan @ Umar, Paigambar, Kader Gazi and others of JMB. In 2018 January, he along with Adil, Hassan, Chota Karee, and Kausar had been to Bodhgaya where they planted explosives and were directly involved in the Bodhgaya blast. After the blast, he left for Bangalore and was involved in dacoity activities along with his associates.
