Assam: Gun and Ammunition Found Taped to Ceiling of Train Toilet

Guwahati, July 28, 2019:

In a shocking incident, the train checking staff of Guwahati Railway Police recovered one .22 pistol along with 30 rounds of live ammunition from the toilet of a train at the Guwahati Railway Station on Sunday.

The gun and ammunition were found taped to the ceiling of the toilet of the Down-Kamrup Express train coach no-S/11, when the train was standing at the Platform no. 1. The gun and ammo have been seized as 'unclaimed', and further investigation is going on.

Such sensational incidents are not too uncommon at the Guwahati Railway Station. Earlier on July 28, the Guwahati GRPS apprehended two women with 175 small pouches containing 195 Yaba tablets each from Rajdhani Express train at Guwahati Railway Station on July 18.

The two women were identified as Soma Paul (26) and Sangita Modak (30) and they hail from Alipurduar, West Bengal.

According to officials, the accused were moving the consignment to Alipurduar from Dimapur, Nagaland.These tablets were supposed to be delivered in Bangladesh.

The officials further informed that a case under the NDPS Act had been registered and an investigation was underway.
