Anurag Goel, Commissioner Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Assam had a meeting at Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) on Saturday with the head of the departments of AMCH to review the arrangement of treatment of Covid-19 patients in AMCH. The Commissioner Secretary instructed the senior doctors of AMCH to lead the front to treat Covid-19 patients in the meeting attended by Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh, Pallav Gopal Jha,  Dr Hiranya Kumar Goswami, Principal, AMCH, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dipu Kumar Deka and members of the health department.

The Commissioner Secretary also mentioned that the involvement of senior doctors in the crucial time in the treatment of serious Covid-19 patients will help to control the situation in view of increasing number of deaths of patients in recent times. The Commissioner Secretary stated that the government's  utmost priority at this moment is to save the lives of patients. He instructed to ensure presence of specialist doctors to take care of patients at all times in Assam Medical College.

In view of increasing numbers of admission of Covid patients in AMCH, the Chief Secretary instructed to admit only those patients having symptoms or morbidities. It has been also discussed regarding emergency services, Plasma Bank, increasing ICU beds, oxygen supply etc.

In a separate meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall in Dibrugarh yesterday, the Chief Secretary reviewed the Covid situation in the district in presence of Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner, Pallav Gopal Jha, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dipu Kumar Deka, incharge and officers associated with various Covid Care Centres of the district. It has been instructed to the health team to keep strict vigil on the health condition of Covid19 patients admitted in the Covid Care Centres. Special attention to be given to the patients having comorbidities.

The Chief Secretary also instructed to set up a communication system so that the patients admitted in Covid Care Centres can contact the incharge doctors at the centres at all times. The Chief Secretary also instructed the district administration and health department to depute monitoring team to monitor and visit people in home isolation. It has been instructed to ensure that the people in home isolation are strictly following the home isolation guidelines. It has been instructed to share the data of home isolation people with police to ensure such people cannot go out violating home isolation protocols.

The Chief Secretary visited Covid Care Centres at Khanikar and Don Bosco School to take stock of the arrangements in the centres. He also exchanged views with some of the patients in the centres.
