Assam Health Minister urges citizens to donate blood during pandemic on World Blood Donor Day

Speaking on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta encouraged the citizens of the state to donate blood especially in a COVID-induced crisis situation like this.

GUWAHATI: Speaking on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta encouraged the citizens of the state to donate blood especially in a COVID-induced crisis situation like this.

He said that the main objective of observing this day is to express gratitude to the donors all across the globe who selflessly donated blood to save lives.

The Health Minister further informed that the theme for this year’s World Blood Donor Day is ‘Give Blood and keep the world beating’.

He stressed on the importance of voluntary blood donation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Expressing gratitude to the donors, Mahanta said that they have not only helped in saving lives by donating blood but are also helping in combating the crisis created by the virus.

The Health Minister further stated that any healthy person above 18 and below 65 can donate blood. One can also donate blood before taking the COVID vaccine and 14 days after taking the shot, he added.

“it’s completely safe”, assured the Health Minister.

“There is no better gift than the gift of blood. Your blood can save someone’s life.

Hence, Once again I request you all to come forward and donate blood, further said Mahanta.
