The Assam Health & Family Welfare department has asked all COVID Screening Centres to be made functional by all private nursing homes in all districts of Assam as a large number of patients and attendants visit the private sector nursing homes across the State. The H&FW department also stated in its order that maximum number of persons should be tested for COVID-19, including those persons who visit the private sector nursing homes seeking treatment.
The department ordered that every private sector nursing home/ hospital in the State to be deemed to a COVID Screening Centre, with following arrangements:
1. COVID Screening Centres should be made functional by all private nursing homes in all districts within 3 days.
2. The district administration will provide the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits. The hospitals will provide the medical staff to take the samples and run the RATS PPES and other protective equipment for staff will be provided by the hospitals
3. District administration will arrange for training of laboratory technicians etc for collection of the samples, as per latest ICMR guidelines, and for conduct of the rapid tests.
4. In case of symptomatic persons who tested negative on RATS, their samples will be collected by the hospital staff for RT-PCR testing. Such persons will be in isolation till the declaration of RT-PCR result.
5. Every OPD patient will have to compulsorily undergo RAT followed by RT PCR test, if required.
