Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, launching into yet another tirade against the anti-CAA (or Citizenship Amendment Act) on Tuesday, condemned the Assam youth icon Zubeen Garg for his choice of words during a protest against the Bill-turned-Act.

In the latest BJP 'peace' rally being held to dispel the misgivings against the CAA, the Minister lashed out at popular singer Zubeen Garg for using a local slang that bears a resemblance to the word 'CAA', while referring to the controversial legislation.

Addressing a mass gathering of BJP supporters at Biswanath Chariali in a clear show of strength, the Minister said "Not too long ago, you saw the atmosphere -- tyre burnings and unrest. Now, after less than a month, the BJP is conducting massive rallies -- the people have spoken, they do not want agitations, they simply want development."

Admitting that agitations are needed to assert the rights of the people, the Minister said that the student orhaniz . "However", he added, "in the time of the Assam Agitation, tyres were not burned, not a single railing on the roadside was spared."

The Minister also condemned the protesters and said that anyone who is aware of the culture of the State will not partake in such agitations which cause harm to people and property.

The BJP leader also launched scathing attacks at his bete noire, the AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal. "I once warned that Badruddin Ajmal would pose grave dangers to Assam. Now, there are lakhs upon lakhs of Ajmals", he rued.

Biswa Sarma, reiterating fears of a 'Bangladeshi Muslim' takeover in Assam, cautioned the people that if steps are not taken, Assam will be run over by illegal migrants within 10 years. He further dared the AASU leaders, who have been talking of floating a new political outfit, to contest elections in Muslim-majority areas.

"In 35 seats, Assamese people cannot fight elections. If they are unable to decide who is right and who is wrong, Ajmal will become the Chief Minister of Assam within ten years", the Minister said, reiterating his message that the illegal migrants are forming voting blocs in certain areas, where the indigenous Assamese have been rendered politically obsolete.

Defending the controversial CAA, Biswa Sarma said, "If more than 3-5 lakh people get citizenship under this new law, I am willing to renounce politics, because I know that there is a misinformation to mislead the people."

Later in the day, the Assam Minister uploaded pictures from the 'peace' rally on social media, along with the words: "Our heads held high with courage, pure are our intentions. They try to hard hit our morals, Strong stand our resolutions. A rough force shall never perturb us, We are firm in our ambitions."
