Assam Minister of Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme under National Health Mission (NHM) at Tinsukia district Civil Hospital today.
The Minister also inaugurated the state-of-art Mother and Child Care Unit at the hospital worth Rs 22.92 crore.
Himanta Biswa Sarma was accompanied by the newly elected Union Minister Rameswar Teli along with the locals of Tinsukia.
The state-of-art Mother and Child Care Unit will have 12 units for the doctors, and 12 units for the nurses.
Apart from the inauguration of the state-of-art Mother and Child Care Unit, the minister also sat with the PWD officials for the construction of Tinsukia- Dibrugarh National Highway 37 before August 15.
He also announced the standard construction of 99 km of the Moran- Naharkatia- Duliajan road. Moreover, the minister also announced to construct 55 km of Kailashpur- Filbari-Margherita- Arunachal connecting road with an expense of Rs 5 crore per kilometre.
It is to be mentioned that Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 11 announced that the Assam government has decided to make kidney dialysis and other related treatments free under Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme.
The programme will be operational at eight hospitals and health centers in the state. These centres are- Managaldai Civil Hospital (Darrang), Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (Sonitpur), LGB Civil Hospital (Tinsukia), Morigaon Civil Hospital (Morigaon), Kanaklata Civil Hospital (Sonitpur), Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College (Barpeta), SMK Civil Hospital (Nalbari), and Bongaigaon District Hospital (Bongaigaon).
Apart from this, seven more health care facilities will be made available in North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital, Dhemaji Civil Hospital, Sivasagar Civil Hospital (Sivasagar), BP Civil hospital (Nagaon), Diphu Civil Hospital, Dhubri Civil Hospital, and Goalpara Civil Hospital.
