A medium intensity earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale has hit Assam, and other parts of the Northeast today.
According to the reports, the tremors were felt in Guwahati and other parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and adjoining areas of the northeastern region at about 7.42 pm.
The earthquake had its epicentre 55 kms WSW of Guwahati, the largest city in the State, and originated 48 kms below the earth's surface.
No losses to life or property have been reported so far.
