Assam Icon Barsha Rani Bishaya to Lead All-Women 'Black-March' against CAA on Jan 19

Guwahati, January 13, 2019:

Prominent actress from Assam, Barsha Rani Bishaya, on Monday announced her plans to lead a massive all women's protest against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act on January 19, after the end of Bihu.

Announcing the protest at an event organized by the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) today at Dispur, the prominent actress stated, "The protests will continue, and on the 19th of January, all the women of Guwahati will take out a rally..a black march...against the Citizenship Amendment Act."

"We are actually hurt because they have not respected our sentiments; its really shocking for us, how can our own people be so ignorant about the sentiment; we are protesting for our indigenous identity", Barsha told us, lamenting the Assam Government's lack of resistance.

The prominent actress also condemned the "heinous" act of the killing of 5 youths who were killed during firing by police. At the same time, she lauded the student fraternity of Assam for continuing to protest against the C(A)A.

At the AJYCP protest, Barsha also turned down heavily on the Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, for his indifference to the situation, and claimed that the Chief Minister of the State had let the people down by not standing alongside the indigenous sons-of-the-soil for
