Assam: Illegal coal miners caught red handed in Digboi, JCB seized

MARGHERITA: Acting on a tip off on tuesday morning, Anuj Gogoi Forest Range Officer and his team of Lekhapani Forest Range office under Digboi Forest Division seized one JCB while it was digging illegal coal from Lalpahar under Tipong RF of Lekhapani Forest Range office.

The Driver and Handyman of the JCB fled from the spot and forest department team seized the JCB bearing Registration Number AR 12 9757.

It may be mention that North Eastern Coalfields Coal India Limited Margherita have shut down its production on June 2020 for more than 1 and half years but than also illegal coal mining rampantly going on at Coal mines of NEC which conscious section people of Margherita Region are shocked to see PSU's Maharatna Company NEC being looted by some vested interest people of Margherita and other parts of Assam.

NEC give Rs 100 Crores to State Exchequer every year and for Corporate Social Responsibility Rs 10 every year but the sudden shut down of Coal Production by NEC, state is losing huge royalty.
