Assam: Illegal coal trade continues in Margherita

Pandemic COVID 19 has crippled the world economy and the various infrastructure at the place. Assam too has seen its fair share of problems with the virus. As of now, areas under Guwahati are placed under containment zone and there are uncertainties regarding the extension of lockdown.

In such a humanitarian crisis, things seem different at Margherita under Tinsukia District. The illegal coal syndicate is rampantly going on under the nose of the administration. The local MLA Bhaskar Sharma has been dormant on the issue and there has not been any communication from the police authorities regarding the matter.

The main areas where illegal coal trade is allegedly going on is at Bomgada, Saleki Gaon, Lalpahar, 6 Number Ledo, Jharna Basti, Telkhad Basti, Baragolai. All these areas are situated in Margherita.
