Democracy which stands a pivotal feature of the constitution is somewhere at the edge with the filthy practices in the election process which is suppose to be transparent and fair.

To utter surprise certain recordings going viral and doing the rounds over the social media lucidly reveals the directions of the leaders backing contestants in the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress leaders. The situation gets aggravated when the information of APCC president, Ripun Bora backing particular contestants comes to fore which breaches the very constitutional provisions.

To confirm such accusation, Inside NE made efforts to clear it from the leader of Opposition Debarata Saikia whose recordings has also been released. He didn't deny the accusations He stated " I definitely supported a contestant and it's not that I am the only one, there are many others who have backed other contestants. Neutrality cannot be maintained since there are some blue blooded contestants and there are some who are skillful industrious but financially weak, so I have definitely supported, I would not deny to it"

Another recording of MLA Rockybul Hussain jolts people too where he has clearly spoken of his support for a contestant. Talking to Inside NE, Hussain clearly agreed firm and stern to the allegations. He stated " I will interfere in the elections of Youth Congress of my Constituency and I see no wrong in that. But APCC President cannot indulge in it since he has an influence all over Assam but I will surely indulge as I am concerned about my constituency."

Thus such leaked recordings and the leaders agreeing to it has clearly brought forth how such manipulations has polluted the entire system. Serious questions arises as to if the leaders are to impose influence them what's the worth of elections, rather selection could be a measure. Why such hustle and hue and cry in the name of elections if the ultimate power rests in the hands of leaders? Congress which has forever been known for internal conflicts, factions has time and again proved the same.
