People of Assam joined their compatriots in rest of the country in bidding a tearful adieu to one of the most beloved and popular leaders of post-independent India Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday.

Condolence and prayer meets were organised across the State to mourn the demise of the former Prime Minister.

A condolence meeting was held at the BJP State office in Guwahati in the presence of most of the party’s senior leaders.

In Kokrajhar too, a condolence meeting was held at the BTC Secretariat, which was attended by BTC Deputy Chief Khaf Bargayari and other officials.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang paid rich tribute to the departed soul at a condolence meeting at Karbi Anglong district BJP office in Diphu. KAAC Deputy Speaker Ritesh Enghi, Executive Members, Members of Autonomous Council and BJP workers were also present.
