Goalpara, November 12, 2019:

The killer elephant called 'Laden', who has been terrorizing the locals of Goalpara district of Assam for many years, is apparently going to turn over a new leaf after the forest officials have decided to "train" it.

The wild jumbo has also been re-named 'Krishna', after the Hindu God, amid the forest officials of Assam's resolve to bring the wild jumbo back to the 'good side'.

Now, discussions are being held to relocate the errant pachyderm to the Guwahati Zoo. There are also speculations that the elephant might work for the forest department, and the other elephants working for the Assam forest department are going to train it.

On Monday, a team of Assam forest officials led by Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika were successful in tranquilizing Laden, the murderous elephant which has killed as many as 50 people in Goalpara district of Assam during the last five years.

It may be mentioned that since 2006, elephants which sneak into human habitats and terrorize the locals have been given the moniker ‘Laden’, after the dreaded Al-Qaeda leader who is credited with the 9/11 terror attack on US soil. In the following years, every conflict-ridden district had its own ‘Laden’.
