Kokrajhar town in Assam, the heart of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has so far given a "good response" to the third phase of the lockdown that began from Monday across the country to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.
A strict security vigil and law and order have been kept strongly in the district during the ongoing lockdown. Meanwhile, two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheeler vehicles have been allowed to move during the day while maintaining strict social distancing guidelines. They have further been asked to obey strict guidelines and directions from the government and health department during the lockdown.

In Kokrajhar, citizens are seen following the strict maintenance of social distancing in bazaars, shopping complexes. People on the streets have also been seen donning masks. Common masses, in general, have again begrudgingly agreed to the declaration of the lockdown initiated by the government and have been seen adhering to the norms by-and-large.
Meanwhile, Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that there will be a complete curfew in the state from May 4 onwards, the day when the next phase of the lockdown called to contain the coronavirus will come into effect.
Addressing the press here today, Sarma said that except for pharmacies and other exempted emergency services, nothing will remain open during the curfew period. However, certain relaxations have been made during the non-curfew period.
Sarma said that people won’t be allowed to move out of their houses during the next phase of the lockdown. Only health services, media, fire services, ambulances, and Government vehicles will be exempted. “I politely urge the people that the police will discharge their duties accordingly”.
