ASSAM: Lakhan Bhuyan sentenced for imprisonment

CBI Court in Guwahati has sentenced a total of 7 years 3 months of imprisonment to Lakhan Bhuyan, Office Superintendent, CWE, MES, Tezpur, Assam with an amount of Rs. 30,000 as penalty for his offence under section 7 of the prevention of Corruption Act, 1998 and 13(2) of PC Act., 1988.

`                       Lakhan Bhuyan, while working as Office Superintendent in CWE, MES, Tezpur, Assam was alleged of demanding bribe of Rs.200000 and later on reduced the bribe amount to Rs. 100000. The accused was caught red handed on 29 September 2015 at his residence while he was accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant Supriyo Das, for processing and despatching of his appointment letter for the post of Mate (SSK) in MES, Tezpur, Assam
