Guwahati, July 16, 2019:

The monsoon session of the Assam legislative Assembly has been postponed due to ongoing problems in Assam.

The announcement was made by the speaker of the legislative assembly, Hitendra Nath Goswami in a press meet.

Earlier, the session of the Assam Assembly was scheduled to be held from July 18 till July 25. But due to the problem caused by floods in the state, the session will now be held from July 26.

The decision came after a meeting of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal with Governor Jagdish Mukhi.

The Assam Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Assam. It is housed in Dispur, the capital of Assam, geographically situated in present Western Assam region. The Legislative Assembly comprises 126 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. Its term is five years, unless sooner dissolved.
