Activist Harish Mander, who recently resigned as the special monitor of NHRC reveals conditions which will get anyone's heart in their mouth. He documented the ravaged condition of the detainers identified by Foreigners's Tribunal .However it failed to grab the attention of NHRC. Therefor Mander decided to convey it publicaly. The report has been divided in parts mentioning the conditions and apprehensions of the captives which has a loose hold on humanitarian grounds. The document has in it that since there is no formal agreement between India and Bangladesh governments for India to deport persons they deem to be foreigners, not only are the persons who the Foreigners' Tribunal judge to be foreigners detained for many years, there is no prospect of their eventual incarceration. At present, it appears that they may actually be detained for the rest of their lives. Such apprehensions give frightening chills ahead of the publication of NRC, as to what will be the future of those discarded from the list published. Will it be as nasty and pitiable. Will the long detainees ever see lights of emancipation? Answers await.
