In an unprecedented event, the transgenders of the city were seen fighting in the Maligaon area that falls under the Jalukbari PS. As per local sources, the fight has been between local transgenders and railway transgenders. The transgenders came from the train and were operating in the Maligaon-Bharalamukh area when they were.
The local transgenders used to be visible in the market spaces of the area, however, the transgenders who came from outside were collecting money from the markets. This led to an altercation between both the groups.
Inside Northeast contacted Swati Bidhan Barua, Sr Advocate and Associate Vice-Chairperson of the State Transgender Board. "The people came from Kolkata, Siliguri and some were even caught to be faking to earn money from the local market. Following the confrontation led to a fight where they beat the local ones near Gharana in Maligaon. They have contacted me and I already informed the DCP and some of them have gone to DCP office. These things have already happened before and there's also an FIR pending in Bhralamukh".
As per a source, few of the injured in today's episode have been taken to Guwahati Medial College.
