In view of Kali Puja and Diwali celebrations in the state of Assam on Monday, local holiday has been declared in Hailakandi, Hojai and Chirang districts of Assam.
Orders to this effect have been issued by Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli, Hojai DC Tonmoy Pratim Borgohain, and Chirang District Commissioner, Gautam Talukdar on Friday.

All state government offices, revenue, and magisterial courts and educational institutions will remain closed on that day.
As per the orders issued by the DC of the three districts, it has been declared that the local holiday will not be effective in case of any examinations of schools and colleges already scheduled.
Meanwhile, the Hailakandi district administration has promulgated Section 144 CrPC in the district in view of Kali Puja and Diwali on Sunday and Monday.
In order to this effect has been issued by District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli on Thursday.
The order prohibits performing puja in public places without prior permission of competent authority, blockade of roads and public playgrounds, sale or purchase of fireworks, bursting of firecrackers causing noise pollution, forcible collection of donation, gambling of any kind, use of loudspeakers without permission and unauthorized drawal of electric connection for any purpose.

The prohibition is imposed as a measure of precaution and peaceful celebrations of Kali Puja and Diwali says the order.
