The Cachar district administration, Assam has deputed magistrates for smooth and peaceful observation of Idd-Uz-Zuha festival on August 1.

Meanwhile, 21 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam's Hailakandi district on Thursday, taking the total tally to 910.Health authorities here disclosed that of the 21 positive cases on Thursday, five cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). 166 swab results turned out to be negative.A total of 119 cases have been found positive under RAT so far with majority of them without travel history. 43 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals on Thursday, taking the total number of persons released to 788. The number of active cases in the district is currently 118.28 persons are undergoing treatment at SK Roy designated COVID Civil Hospital, 8 at SMC&H, 34 at Algapur Model COVID Hospital, 1 at HPC's COVID Care Centre Guest House, 4 at HPC's Hospital COVID Care Centre and 43 at Adarsha Vidyalaya COVID Care Centre. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Only 81 persons are currently under facility quarantine centres while 6,360 under home quarantine. Of the 14,692 swab samples taken, 12,742 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 279 persons are awaited.
