Assam’s Major General, Rana Pratap Kalita from Rangia has been promoted and appointed as the Lieutenant General in the Indian Army.
Rana Pratap Kalita was commissioned in the Army in 9th Kumaon Regiment in 1984. He was a student of the National Defence Academy and studied at Sainik School in Goalpara of Assam.
Kalita has served as the BGS (Ops) at 15th Corps, commanded the 13th Rashtriya Rifles, Srinagar, commanded the 19th infantry division, and the 71st Infantry Brigade at Lucknow.
He won the Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his contributions in the Army.
