In an early morning operation, a man has been apprehended for possession of AK-47 cartridges in Assam’s Dhubri district on Monday. The police informed that the possessions has now been recovered and seized.
Informing this, the Dhubri police tweeted, “In an early Morning Operation recovered and seized 16 Live AK-47 Ammunition from one Jahirul Islam of New Ghat, Bahadurtari, Dhubri and Arrested him under Arms Act. According to reports, the man arrested has been identified as Jehirul Islam, a mobile shop owner and seized 16 cartridges of AK-47 rifles in Dhubri town.
A case under sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered against him, he said.
Reportedly, The seizure of AK-47 cartridges in Dhubri town is a cause of concern, and his possible links with terrorist groups are being investigated.
