In a bizarre incident, an Assam man was handed a pregnancy report by a private hospital, Hindlabs Diagnostic Centre, after he had given his urine to it for a laboratory test. The incident shocked many.
Jogeswar Bora, 42, had approached the Civil Hospital in Golaghat in the early part of July as he was suffering from a certain illness. He had availed of the treatment under Chief Minister’s Free Diagnostic Services. Under this, private hospitals perform medical tests such as CT scan, x-ray, blood and urine tests etc in government-run hospitals. The government pays the hospitals for every test.
When Bora was handed the report of his urine test on July 10 by the private hospital, he was at a loss on learning that it was about pregnancy. Shocked, he soon approached the chamber of a private medical practitioner and later, heaved of sigh of relief on being informed that it was a negative report of pregnancy.
