Assam man kills alleged witch, arrested

Guwahati, November 14, 2018:

The Kokrajhar police arrested a man who had murdered a woman on the suspicion that she practiced witchcraft.

The accused, Handu Hembrom, had murdered one Sumi Tudu on the night of November 6 at her residence at Nabinnagar Harinchara village in Kokrajhar.

Hembrom told the police he had killed the victim with a machete. It was learnt that the victim had scolded him about five days before the murder. The police recovered the machete from the backyard of his house.
