Some unidentified miscreants on Wednesday night shot a man in Hojai district of Assam at around 10 pm from point-blank range, due to which he died. The victim has been identified as Prasenjit Nandi. He was a resident of South Golaghatia Basti in Hojai district.

The locals discovered his dead body at the Krishna Nagar area and immediately intimidated the police. One of the locals said that he had injury marks in his head.
A police investigation was initiated, and on searching the area, the police recovered an empty cartridge of 7.62 mm pistol.

Meanwhile, the body of Prasenjit Nandi has been sent for postmortem. The reports will reveal the actual cause of death.
The injured, identified as Zaharul Islam, has been rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Meanwhile, police have confirmed the incident. The miscreants have shot him on his leg, according to reports.
It is to be mentioned here that in the month of October, two unidentified miscreants shot at a local businessman in the busy streets of Guwahati’s Lakhara area.
