Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma's 'Fans Club' started a fund-raising programme for the flood affected people of Assam at various locations across the Assembly constituency.
The fund-raising programme was headed the Fans Club's Chief Convenor, as well as Social media and Media Cell Advisor Rupam Baruah as well as many other dignitaries of the area.
Speaking to Inside Northeast, Rupam Baruah said: "We began this initiative yesterday, and we have collected Rs. 50,000 thus far, along with other materials and eatables. We are thankful for the support we are getting and we hope to hand over what we manage to collect to the Chief Minister himself."
The fund-raising was attended by more than 50 members who collected funds for the flood affected people of Assam.
Meanwhile, Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma himself also donated his one month's salary for the flood affected people of Assam.
It may be mentioned that the flood death toll has risen to 60 in Assam, which is the highest in many decades.
